John Poe Architects, one of Dayton’s largest architecture and design firms, announces a new executive leadership team as it nears the last phase of its long-term transition plan.

John Poe, industry leader and Founder of John Poe Architects, is announcing a new executive leadership team that will position the firm for future growth. Aaron Poe will step into the role of Chief Operating Officer. Jason Ross, AIA, ACHA will serve as a Principal and will lead the firm’s medical sector work, while Mike Duke, AIA, will serve as a Principal and spearhead private sector projects.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we have built as JPA over the past 36 years. To state that we have collaborated with so many valuable clients and have worked to develop Dayton in such a meaningful way would be an understatement.  As I thought about the best way to position JPA for future growth, I decided now is the ideal time to introduce our new leadership team- I have no doubt they will continue to do quality work that will greatly benefit this community,” says John.

Under John Poe’s steadfast leadership, JPA designed notable projects in the Dayton area, such as the Salvation Army Kroc Center, The Community Blood Center/Tissue Center, and several projects for the Dayton VA Medical Center, amongst many more.

Regarding his new role and the future direction of JPA, Mike Duke stated, “Although our leadership will look different going forward, our goal will remain the same- pursuing design excellence and providing both local and national clients with superior, user-focused design. We plan to connect with the Dayton and greater Ohio area on a deeper level, with a focus on projects that provide built environments for community engagement.”

In addition to a portfolio of local work in the non-profit, municipal, religious, and education sectors, JPA has also designed more than 300 projects for VA Medical Centers nationwide. The new team looks to develop and grow this sector in the coming years.

Jason Ross, a Certified Healthcare Architect, has a clear vision for this part of JPA’s portfolio: “I plan to focus on fostering existing relationships and forging new ones with the medical facilities that serve our nation’s veterans. At the end of the day, I’m driven by a mission to improve the care of those who have sacrificed so greatly for our country,”

JPA’s new leadership structure is effective January 10, 2023. In addition to its organizational structure changes, the firm is also unveiling revised branding and a new website. Aaron Poe mentions “We are incredibly grateful for John’s leadership for the past 36 years-both from a design standpoint and his role in the greater community. We look forward to continuing his legacy and delivering industry-leading, innovative projects for many years.”
